Vancouver Island (FULL)

Courses Available: ASA 105 and 106

Earn your ASA 105 and 106 while weaving through Vancouver Island’s intricate channels, from sheltered Gulf Island anchorages to open stretches of the Salish Sea. Each day, you move beyond basics into true command: planning and executing coastal passages, timing tidal gates and currents, plotting around reefs, and using paper charts alongside GPS and radar. Underway, you practise docking in working harbours, setting and resetting anchors, managing crew and onboard systems, and making smart decisions when the weather turns up. Between drills, grab a dockside coffee, watch whales and sea lions off the bow, or hike to a lookout as the sun sinks over the strait. By week’s end, you are not just reading the coast with confidence, you are running the boat like a skipper ready for self-reliant cruising on any rugged shore.

Vancouver Island (FULL)

Courses Available: ASA 105

Earn your ASA 105 while weaving through Vancouver Island’s intricate channels, from sheltered Gulf Island anchorages to open stretches of the Salish Sea. Each day, you sharpen real-world coastal navigation: plotting courses around rocks and reefs, timing tidal gates and currents, reading lights and ranges, and using paper charts alongside GPS. Underway, you keep honing seamanship as you anchor in quiet cedar-lined coves and dock in working harbours with mountains at your back. Between drills, grab a coffee dockside, watch whales and sea lions off the bow, or hike to a lookout as the sun sinks over the strait. By week’s end, you’re reading the coast with confidence, ready to plan and execute your own passages along any rugged shore.
